7. Soluble in water and some organic solvents: its aqueous solution is of surface tension, high transparency and stable property. The solubility varies with the viscosity, the lower the viscosity is, and the higher solubility it has. The different HPMC is different in some properties and its solubility in water is not affected by pH
8. The surface activity decreases with the lower content of methoxyl, the higher temperature of gelatification, and the lower solubility in water.
9. HPMC has also other characteristic such as thickening property, pH stability, water retention, excellent film-forming property and good disperse and adhesion power.
HPMC is mainly used in the industry as dispersant in the production of PVC and as thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier, excipient, water retention agent, film-forming agent in petrochemical, building materials, agrochemical, ink, printing and dyeing of textile, paper making, cosmetic, etc. In the application of synthetic resin, the product has the advantages of uniform and loose granules and good process capability, so it basically takes the place of glutin and polyvinylbutyral (PVB). Besides, in the operation course of construction, it is mainly used for bricklaying, parget ornament and filleting. In the application of coating trade, it can be used as thickener to make the coat bright and exquisite.
