The HXC-4 Long Retractable Sootblower (Refer to Figure 1) is mainly used for blowing the accumulative dusts and deposits located on the heated surfaces of boilers, especially for the super-heaters, re-heaters and economizers by steam or compressed air. It is also used for cleaning the accumulative dusts located on the top of boilers and the tube-like air pre-heaters. The purpose of sootblowing is to improve the boiler’s heat efficiency and guarantee a long and safe operation with full load.
1.1 Principle of Operation
The basic working principle of the HXC-4 sootblower is that the compressed air or steam is ejeted out through the nozzles (two nozzles generally) at the front end of the retractable rotary lance tube continuously and clean the accumulative dusts and deposits on the heated surface. The nozzle’s moving track is a spiral line whose travel distance is determined by the sootblower’s travel distance and blowing requirements. When sootblower is in operation, the tracks of forward travel and backward travel are staggering from each other so as to obtain the best cleaning.
